I missed yesterday’s blogmas post due to my mental health (oops), but today I’m going to pick myself back up and carry on!
So I’m pretty new myself to this whole minimalism thing, but I thought I’d share some tips that really helped me to get started! I’ll be making a youtube video about this in the new year which will be more in-depth, but for now here are 3 tips!
1. Just go for it
Those clothes you’ve been hanging on to for way too long? Those old VHS tapes you’re never going to watch again? Pull the bandaid off in one quick rip and GET RID OF THEM. Trust me, it’s easier that way. Don’t stare at them for an hour while you reminisce on all your fond memories with those items, just do it.
2. Remember it’s okay to keep things that mean a lot to you
I’ve kept most of my books, as well as family items that mean the world to me. There are no rules. You are allowed to keep the things that are important to you.
3. Don’t even look at online shops for a while
You’d be surprised how easy it is to reaccumulate any clutter you’ve just gotten rid of in the odd night of impulsive online shopping. Trust me, it’s easier just not to look.
