Since October is the month that most of us go back to uni in the UK, I thought I’d share a couple of my study tips. I’m planning on writing a longer in-depth post about studying while dealing with mental health issues but, for now, I wanted to write a quick post to get you in the studying spirit!
Always study with a warm drink at hand.
I can’t study without a tea or coffee. This isn’t so much of a study tip as it is just general life advice, but anyway…
Use pretty study materials that you love.
Does this sound silly? Yes. Does it work? Absolutely. I use pastel highlighters, pretty notebooks and folders etc, and let me tell you, I find studying much more enjoyable now that everything looks nice.
Do any required reading before the start of your course.
It’ll save you so much stress and time in the long run, trust me. It might seem like a lot of effort, but it’s worth it.
Create a study schedule and stick. to. it.
If you know me, you know that I love lists, I love planners, and I love schedules – especially when it comes to studying. By creating myself a study schedule, I’m able to stay ahead of my classes and focus on getting the best grade possible.
Create your basic essay plans the moment you receive your assignments.
This is the number one piece of advice that I can give you. Even if it’s a basic bullet point list of the basic concepts you know you’ll want to cover, it’ll save you so much unnecessary stress overall.
Aim high, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
Seriously. Make your education a priority, but never prioritize it over your mental health. Promise?
